Trail Conditions

Date Conditions
3/3/2010 Today is March 3rd. We are receiving some snow right now above 5600 feet. The following trails were last groomed. Snake Creek canyon, Pine canyon, Cummings Parkway to Cascade Springs and over to Soldier Hollow. The cat is out right now doing the run up the Alpine Loop and hopefully being trailered over to do Tibble Fork and Silver Lake in American Fork Canyon. The weather has been extremely warm in the upper 40's the last few days, so snow is depleting fast. This will most likely be our last run over to Tibble Fork and Soldier Hollow as snow conditions are to minimal. In the past we typically groom until mid March, however, this has not been the best snow year and the weather has turned off warm early. We will do what we can while the snow is still good.

2/22/2010 Today is February 21st. The current trail conditions are as follows. Snake Creek, Aspen Grove, and the Alpine loop were all last groomed on Friday evening. Our snow cat was down for a few days so we apologize for the conditions of the trails. We weren't able to be transferred last week to groom around Tibble Fork and Silver Lake due to the cat being repaired. We have had some new snow on the mountain, although it was only about 6 inches within the last few days. We are planning on a grooming run to the Tibble Fork area on Wednesday afternoon as long as there is no storm. Please check the avalanche conditions before you go out. Although we haven't had a good storm for quite some time, the conditions this last weekend were considerable for our area.

2/1/2010 Today is February 1st. We are still waiting to get our snow cat fully operational. The tiller was fixed today, however we are still waiting to have our blade fixed. This will be completed tomorrow and we will be up and running again. We realize this has been a difficult few weeks as we've waited to get the cat repaired, but we will do all we can this week to get everything groomed by Wednesday. The cat will go out on Tuesday night and do down American Fork Canyon to the top of the narrows and also across cummings parkway over to Cascade and Soldier Hollow. On Wednesday it will go up the alpine loop and then around to Tibble Fork and Silver Lake. This will allow for everything in the complex to be groomed by Wednesday. Thanks for your patience.

1/20/2010 Today is January 20th and I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that we received some new snow with these couple storms this week. The bad news is, the snow cat is broke down. We had the tiller come apart so it has been taken to Salt Lake today for repair. The shop tells me that it most likely won't be until next week when we can have it back. The cat broke down on Friday so the trails haven't been groomed since last Wednesday. I'll keep you updated when we get it back out.

1/6/2010 Today is January 6th. We are receiving some very light snow, not amounting to anything right now. Snow conditions are not getting any better as it has been quite some time since we have received any new snow. The cat is currently broke down and under repair right now. It should be up and running by January 7th hopefully. The alpine loop and Tibble Fork were scheduled to be groomed today, but we will try to do it tomorrow. Snake Creek and parts of American Fork Canyon were last groomed on Tuesday night.

12/22/09 We have been hit by another storm today. We didn't receive a lot of accumulation, maybe 5 inches of new as of 8pm tonight. We groomed the trails from Snake Creek over to Soldier Hollow. The trail is in great condition. Tomorrow I will groom up the Alpine loop. If the roads are cleared good enough, we will get trailered to Tibble Fork and do that canyon and up to Silver Lake. If the road conditions are such that we can't trailer the cat around, we will just do the alpine loop. The cat will be down over Christmas while our groomers are off with their families, but we will be back at it on the 26th. Have a great Christmas.

12/5/09 We started grooming on Tuesday and have opened most of the complex up. Tuesday we groomed up Snake Creek and over to Soldier Hollow. On Wednesday we groomed the Alpine loop over to American Fork canyon and down to Aspen Grove, then back to Snake Creek. Tonight we will attempt to get the cat over to American Fork canyon to the top of the narrows. We have about 3.5 feet up top. Soldier Hollow has about 18 inches. It was pretty warm yesterday which made the snow rather sticky down in the lower areas near the trailheads. Avalanche danger is high right now so be very careful when choosing your terrain to ride in. See you on the trail.

12/5/09 If dry and gloom is what you enjoy, your getting what you want. We are still waiting for snow to arrive on the mountain as I'm sure you all are. Snake Creek and Cascade Springs road have gates placed on them and they remain closed until enough snow arrives that we can get our snow cat running. On average over the past ten years our grooming operation has begun on December 15th. Not sure if we will make that average or not this year. Once we get enough snow I will let you know.

Now is a good time to make sure your gear and equipment is in order. Make sure your machines are properly registered and the year and month stickers are properly placed and visible on your machine. Don't ever go out riding with the mentality that it will just be a short ride. Prepare your gear with the thought that you will be staying on the mountain for the night. If you do this, you will be prepared for any problems that may come. If you haven't got a beacon and shovel, save your money and invest in one. You have spent thousands of dollars on your machines, spend a few hundred on something that may save you or your buddies life. For those with children who will be riding with you, make sure you have a properly fit DOT approved helmet for them. Anyone under 18 has to wear a helmet.

See you on the trail.
